The natural voices of the landscape continue to inspire me, the stories it holds old and new. The raw, calm, wild and transient atmosphere of the environment inspires my work. The landscape shares its stories through continually changing ways, the light and mood of the seasons, dancing colour, immense skies never ending seas.

Oil & Canvas

My paintings are remembered journeys that cling to the physical and emotional impact that being in the landscape had on all of my senses. As a Visual Artist active engagement with the landscape draws on narratives from my personal and cultural memory. I’m motivated by conveying movement, boundaries, scars , time and remembered impressions, travels with no departure and no ending point.

I believe that everyone has the potential to impose something different on what she or he sees. The versatility of the painting process offers freedom. In some of my work I have concentrated on developing a mark making system to reflect the complexity of an area. In selected pieces I have chosen to build up layers and to add and remove layers to attempt to mirror the physical processes at work in the environment. In others I have chosen to reflect on the literal and create more representational impressions of place. I work in all painting and drawing mediums and include mix media, collaging and printing processes.

Tutoring & Holidays

As a qualified teacher with a lifetime of teaching experience I deliver day workshops in the UK featuring all painting and drawing mediums each workshop is designed around the group or the individual’s needs.
